The GPA Calculator computes a credit-weighted grade point average across a list of courses. Each course contributes its grade multiplied by its credits; the total is divided by the total credits to produce the GPA. Three independent scales are offered — a 4.0 letter scale, a 5.0 scale, and a plain 0–100 percentage scale — so you can match whichever system your institution uses, though the calculator itself does not implement any single school's official policy.

- A course only counts toward the GPA if its Credits value is greater than 0; courses with zero, blank, or invalid credits are silently excluded from both the total and the average.
- GPA = Σ(grade × credits) ÷ Σ(credits) — a standard credit-weighted average, not a simple average of the grades themselves.
- The Course name field is for your own reference only; it does not affect the calculation.
- This calculator's scales and formula are generic. Many institutions apply their own rounding, repeated-course, or grade-replacement rules, so your official transcript GPA may differ.

As a credit-weighted average: GPA = the sum of (grade × credits) for every course, divided by the sum of credits.

What happens if I leave a course's credits at 0?
That course is excluded entirely — it contributes nothing to either the total quality points or the total credits.
Can I mix scales in the same calculation?
No. Switching the Grading System changes the grade options for every course row; grades already entered are not converted between scales.
Why might this differ from my school's official GPA?
Many institutions apply their own rules — repeated courses, grade replacement, rounding, or non-credit courses — that this general-purpose calculator does not model.
