A carbon footprint measures total greenhouse gas emissions caused directly by human activities. THE CALC uses a simplified annual operational model focusing on electricity, passenger vehicle driving, and air travel.

1. Electricity Emissions

Uses fixed factor of 0.85 lbs CO₂ per kWh.

Electricity lbs CO₂ = Monthly kWh × 12 × 0.85
2. Driving Emissions

Uses fixed factor of 0.79 lbs CO₂ per mile.

Driving lbs CO₂ = Monthly Miles × 12 × 0.79
3. Flight Emissions

Uses fixed factor of 1,100 lbs CO₂ per flight.

Flight lbs CO₂ = Flights/Year × 1,100
4. Total & Metric Tons Conversion

Converts total pounds CO₂ to Metric Tons using 2,204.62 lbs/ton.
