What is a unit price?
A unit price is the cost of a single unit of weight or volume (e.g. per ounce or per gram), allowing direct price comparison across different package sizes.
Is the larger bulk package always the cheaper unit price?
Not always. While bulk items often offer lower unit costs, sales or promotions can sometimes make smaller packages more economical.
Do both quantities have to use the same unit?
Yes, for the comparison to be meaningful. The calculator just divides price by quantity for each option; if one is in ounces and the other in grams, the unit prices are not comparable.
What does a TIE result mean?
The two unit prices are effectively identical (within one millionth), so neither option is cheaper per unit.
