The mode is the value that appears most frequently in a dataset. A dataset can have one mode (unimodal), two modes (bimodal), or more than two modes (multimodal). If every value appears only once, the dataset has no mode. The mode is the only measure of central tendency that can be used with categorical (non-numeric) data, though this calculator works with numeric datasets.
